The Continent of Ahdrua
Ahdrua is a new continent that was recently discovered by the scholars at the Denerim University, across the Eastern seas of Thedas. Size wise, Ahdrua is much smaller than that of Thedas and appears to be a single island continent composed of 5 different nations. Thedosians have yet to interact with any other nation besides the westernmost Ametria.
Continents & Climate:
Ametria:
Population: Est. 1,000,000, give or take a few thousand.
Climate: Temperate except in the northern(sub tropical) and southernmost(Cold) reaches.
Capital: Palantíri Hael
Other major Cities: Aiya, Endari, Forn Tuilë, Ndengina, Sharakh Urulóki
Religion: Pantheon of Ahkra the All-Mother
Magic: Exists in high quantities
Technology: Exists in the form of primitive guns, machines, and canons.
Overview:
Ametria is a country in Ahdrua, located in the most southwest reaches of the continent, and is currently the only country Thedosians have had contact with. It is the largest and most isolated due to it's mountain borders on any side of the country. Ametria seems to be the religious hub of the continent and in the capital city, Palantíri Hael, there is a large temple made of moonstone dedicated to the 5 Gods and Ahkra, the All-mother, which seems to be the most important attraction in the nation.
Other countries:
Herondell,Llorendia,Bauria,Illeria
More information will be added when explored upon IC.
Existing Races:
Elves and dwarves do not appear to exist on the continent of Ahdrua. So far, only the existence of humans has been proven, though scholars report that residence speak of the Veijiari, a race of twisted creatures that live in an area called "The Dragon Wastes" in the region of Bauria, as well as a race of shadow creatures that live in underground tunnels, similar to that of Darkspawn.
Technology:
Technology exists in the form of primitive guns, machines, and canons. Functions of such machines vary, and some are even powered by magic, similar to enchanted items.
Do Ahdruans speak Common language?:
As far as scholars have been, there are few that can speak Common. Ahdruans seem to have their own language that sounds similar to elvish, and written in a flowing script that imitates symbols or swirling patterns .The few that speak Common are magical users who seem to have strange on-contact magic that Thedosians do not possess.
Is there magic?:
Magic exists in Ahdrua in a limited quantity. It seems that magic only exists in certain areas where there are strong "Magical Wells", which most scholars believe to be places where the Veil is thin, or torn altogether. Anyone who can tap into a magical well and live can hone the power of spellcraft, though Thedosians do not know how this functions.
According to scholars, Ametria, Llorendia, and Illeria are the only countries where magic users are common, and even encouraged. Bauria and Herondell do not contain many magic users and the presence of magic is usually discouraged.
Religion:
The religion of Ahdrua seems to revolve a central figure called Ahkra the "All-Mother". Her 5 children- Mihra, Irai, Abremor, Nakir, and Hasmal- are revered in temples across any of the nations, depending on which one acts as their patron deity. Altars for any of the gods exist in every major city. The God of evil, "Ao", does not have his own temple, nor is openly worshipped. Cults may exist but have not been proven to.
